Homes for Haiti

Many Haitian families lack safe and sturdy housing, leaving them vulnerable to harsh weather and unsafe living conditions. RMI’s Homes for Haiti program builds durable, disaster-resistant homes that provide security, dignity, and a fresh start. With your support, we can provide shelter and stability for those in need.

Shelter Brings Security and Hope

Many Haitian families live in unsafe housing conditions, vulnerable to tropical storms, hurricanes and earthquakes. RMI’s Homes for Haiti program builds strong, secure homes to protect and uplift families.

More Than a House—A Future

A home provides more than shelter—it’s a foundation for education, health, and opportunity. Families with secure homes can focus on work, schooling, and their community.

In February 2016 a team was able to deliver a food box to Madame Selemen, a woman who had recently lost her home to a fire.  She was living under some tarps and tree branches.  The team was especially touched with this elderly woman’s situation.  The US C3 partner took on other projects but they also purposed to build a home for Madame Selemen.  When the other projects were cared for, they started to raise funds in earnest for this home.  Fundraisers were held, kids gave their birthday and Christmas money, co-workers pitched in, Life Groups took up offerings and in 10 months, the money was raised for the home.  The next time the team visited they met on the cleared land to pray for Madame Selemen and her new home.  By June 2018 the home was finished and just needed plastering and painting before she was able to move in.  What a prayer time they had when they met with her again.  Being the hands and feet of Jesus transformed this widow’s life.
