The Church as God’s instrument – we value the church as God’s chosen instrument of life change.
I love our second motivation because it embodies what the New Testament is all about: the Body of Christ, also known as the Church. What a joy it is to work hand-in-hand with our brothers and sisters in Christ, or as defined in the NT as “the local church,” to see lives transformed in Christ. God has chosen the Church, especially the local church, to serve as His beacon of light and life in the world, changing it. This is why RMI has chosen to coordinate all we do through the local church, both in the US and overseas.
By working hand-in-hand with local churches, we facilitate the work of God, primarily through these churches. They are the ones who understand their local communities, their needs, and the best ways to reach them with the Gospel, as well as who the needy are amongst them, to help and love them with the love of Christ. Our partnerships exist to encourage and resource each other’s local partner churches, enabling them to better reach their communities with the Gospel by addressing their felt needs. God has chosen us, not just individually, but corporately through the instrument of His church, both universal and local, to transform lives in Christ.
