Beacon EFC has partnered with the MEBSH Church of Morency, Haiti since 2015. Like many church partners, we planned to return multiple times over the last few years, only to face heartbreaking cancellations. Recently, however, thanks to the stability in the southern part of the country, we were finally able to return. What an amazing reunion it was!
The direct flight from Florida to Les Cayes felt almost magical. By bypassing Port-au-Prince entirely, there was no hint of insecurity, no stressful transfers, and no long bus rides. It was an absolute dream.
Upon arrival, we had a brief visit with RMI before heading to the Zanglais Ministry Center. If you’ve ever been there, you know exactly what a few hours in that beautiful space can do for your spirit!
Ministry and Connection in Morency
The following day, we arrived in Morency to a vibrant welcoming parade. With branches waving, voices singing, and smiles all around, the joy was palpable. After spending time catching up with the community, we headed out for home visits—visiting, praying with, and delivering essential food boxes to five families in desperate need.
On Sunday, we worshipped together and shared from the Word of God. We also met with the church deacons, and later that evening, we held an open-air evangelistic service in the community. Two of our team members stepped up to share their testimony and preach the Gospel message.
Building for the Future
Monday and Tuesday were all about hard work and collaboration. We joined forces with the RMI and MEBSH construction teams to put a roof on the Morency church and build 10 new church benches. When we wrapped up on Tuesday afternoon, the locals exclaimed that they felt like they were in heaven. It was an incredible celebration!
On Wednesday, we hopped back on the short flight from Les Cayes and headed home.
We truly cannot wait to go back. In fact, we are already in the process of requesting a date for this coming March!
