Safe Travels

Travel is a vital part of our lives.  We walk, we run, we drive our cars.  If the destination is far away, we take a plane or train.  Our Hope for Kidz team travels all over southern Haiti to every single school several times a year to keep our program running and growing.  But what happens when the roads become less than comfortable?  What if there is no road?

Our trips out to schools usually require a full truckload of supplies (and people) to get the job done.  But every so often, we just can’t get where we need to go by truck.

That’s when the motorcycles come out!  Our wonderfully dedicated team members will find a way to reach their destination.

What do they do when they get to each school?  They meet with the pastor of the church and the school principal to get an idea of the general state of the school: Is the school doing well? Are there any issues, and can RMI help with those issues?  They will take an up-to-date picture of each sponsored student as well as students who are on the “hopeful” list (those that will be presented to the US church, hoping to find a sponsor for them).  For each student, the Hope for Kidz staff will fill out their profiles.

Later in the year, when the Hope for Kidz staff visit the school, they will verify that each sponsored child is faithfully attending school and is doing acceptable class work.  They will spend some time helping the sponsored children write thank-you notes to their sponsors.  They may also do some training for the teachers.  The staff will also check on the health of the children and determine if the medical fund is needed to help out.

Our fall travel season is in full swing.  Please pray over our crew as they venture out and wish them all SAFE TRAVELS!
